{"id":2599,"date":"2023-09-25T05:00:12","date_gmt":"2023-09-25T09:00:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/unisoya.wpenginepowered.com\/?p=2599"},"modified":"2023-09-11T20:53:31","modified_gmt":"2023-09-12T00:53:31","slug":"general-tao-with-fried-tofu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unisoya.com\/en\/recipes\/general-tao-with-fried-tofu\/","title":{"rendered":"General Tao with fried tofu"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p><em>By La Vie dans mon assiette\u00a0: <\/em><br \/>\n<em>In collaboration with Unisoya<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What you need<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ingredients (4 servings)<\/p>\n<p>For the crispy tofu:<\/p>\n<p>1 package of Unisoya tofu, 454 g<\/p>\n<p>\u00bd cup cornstarch<\/p>\n<p>Garlic salt, to taste<\/p>\n<p>Ground pepper<\/p>\n<p>Vegetable oil for frying<\/p>\n<p>For the sauce:<\/p>\n<p>\u00bc cup soy sauce<\/p>\n<p>3 tablespoons rice vinegar<\/p>\n<p>2 tablespoons maple syrup<\/p>\n<p>2 tablespoons hoisin sauce<\/p>\n<p>1 tsp Sambal Oelek<\/p>\n<p>1 tablespoon sesame oil<\/p>\n<p>2 minced garlic cloves<\/p>\n<p>2 tablespoons chopped fresh ginger<\/p>\n<p>2 tablespoons cornstarch mixed in \u00bc cup water<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>For garnish :<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>2 green onions<\/p>\n<p>Sesame seeds<\/p>\n<p>The instructions<\/p>\n<p>Cut the block of tofu into cubes. Coat them evenly with the cornstarch.<\/p>\n<p>corn, garlic salt and pepper.<\/p>\n<p>Heat a little vegetable oil in a nonstick skillet. When warmed, add a first cube to check if the oil is ready. Add the rest of the cubes. Fry over medium-low heat until the pieces are nicely crispy and golden. Reserve in absorbent paper.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In a container, mix the ingredients of the soy sauce until the Sambal Oelek.<\/p>\n<p>In another skillet, heat the sesame oil over medium heat. Add the garlic, ginger and continue cooking for 1 minute.<\/p>\n<p>Add the liquid mixture and bring to a boil.<\/p>\n<p>Reduce heat and stir in cornstarch mixture to thicken.
