{"id":3930,"date":"2026-04-24T10:15:00","date_gmt":"2026-04-24T14:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/unisoya1stg.wpenginepowered.com\/uncategorized\/bbq-tofu-burger-with-southwestern-sauce\/"},"modified":"2026-04-24T10:15:00","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T14:15:00","slug":"bbq-tofu-burger-with-southwestern-sauce","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unisoya.com\/en\/recipes\/bbq-tofu-burger-with-southwestern-sauce\/","title":{"rendered":"BBQ tofu burger with Southwestern sauce"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p><em>By La vie dans mon assiette<br \/>\n<\/em>In collaboration with Unisoya<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What you need<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>2 burgers<strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tofu :<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A packet of Unisoya tofu<\/p>\n<p>1 tablespoon vegetable oil<\/p>\n<p>1 teaspoon cornstarch<\/p>\n<p>1 teaspoon strong smoked paprika<\/p>\n<p>1 teaspoon garlic powder<\/p>\n<p>\u00bd teaspoon celery salt<\/p>\n<p>1 tablespoon maple syrup<\/p>\n<p>1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce<\/p>\n<p>\u00bd teaspoon freshly ground cumin<\/p>\n<p>1 tablespoon chipotle sauce of your choice, Bull&#8217;s-Eye style<\/p>\n<p>Salt<\/p>\n<p>Ground pepper<\/p>\n<p><strong>For the pickled shallots:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>2 French shallots, sliced<\/p>\n<p>\u00bc cup white vinegar (or other)<\/p>\n<p>1 tablespoon maple syrup<\/p>\n<p>\u00bd teaspoon salt<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For the Southwestern-style mayonnaise :<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00bd cup mayonnaise<\/p>\n<p>\u00bc cup finely chopped fresh coriander<\/p>\n<p>1 tablespoon strong mustard<\/p>\n<p>1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lime juice<\/p>\n<p>1 chipotle pepper (adobo sauce)<\/p>\n<p>1 small clove garlic, finely chopped<\/p>\n<p>Salt<\/p>\n<p>Pepper<\/p>\n<p>Burger buns<\/p>\n<p>Mozzarella cheese<\/p>\n<p>Spinach<\/p>\n<p>Pickles (homemade or store-bought)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>How to proceed<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Cut tofu lengthwise into 2 slices. Drain and absorb. <\/p>\n<p>Marinate the tofu and leave to rest while you prepare the recipe (or marinate 24 hours in advance for more flavour).<\/p>\n<p>Prepare the French shallot mixture and leave to macerate while you prepare the recipe (about 30 minutes).<\/p>\n<p>Preheat BBQ to 450\u00b0F and brush. Oil grates as needed. <\/p>\n<p>Grill the tofu for 2 to 3 minutes on each side, or until the slices are well marked.<\/p>\n<p>Toast the breads.<\/p>\n<p>Drain the shallots.<\/p>\n<p>On toasted bread, place cheese and top with mayonnaise.
