What you need
Ingredients (2 servings)
For the tofu:
1 teaspoon maple syrup
1 tablespoon sushi sauce
½ teaspoon zesty ginger
1 dash sriracha
1 teaspoon sesame oil
½ package Unisoya regular tofu, 454g, finely diced
2-3 drops liquid smoke
Addition after letting it marinate:
1 teaspoon mayonnaise
1 tablespoon two-color sesame seeds
Salt
10-15 sliced strawberries
¾ cup, cucumber sliced in a mandolin
Chopped chives
sesame seeds
For the guacamole:
2 avocados, coarsely mashed
2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro (approximately, to taste)
Salt
Accompaniment Suggestions:
Corn chips (ideally unsalted) OR fried won ton
Serving sauce (optional):
1 tablespoon mayonnaise
1 teaspoon maple syrup
1 ½ teaspoon sushi sauce
1 teaspoon rice vinegar
½ teaspoon sesame oil
The instructions:
In a bowl, mix all the ingredients of the tofu recipe, add the cubes of tofu, and let marinate on the counter while preparing the rest of the recipe.
Prepare the rest of the ingredients, as well as the guacamole.
Add the mayonnaise to the tofu mixture, the sesame seeds and a pinch salt.
Assemble the layer of tartare using a round cookie cutter. Place the guacamole bottom, then the cucumbers, the tofu mix and, finally, the strawberries.
Add chives & sesame seeds.
When serving, pour a dash of sauce.
Serve with corn chips or garnish with fried wontons.
